Project Status (Is the project complete? If not, what remains to be accomplished and when?
The project has not started yet. In late June 2016, Katherine Fitch the previous project contact accepted a new position at a different company. Due to her sudden departure, the Yakama Nation Wildlife department was unable to complete the work during the 2016 fiscal year. We plan to complete the project this summer (2017) in accordance to the original grant proposal submitted by Katherine Fitch in September 2015.
Will outcome meet objectives? Yes
Project Follow-Up
Are there plans for monitoring or follow-up? (If not, please explain.)
We plan to establish permanent whitebark pine monitoring plots.
Changes Needed or Problems Encountered:
Due to loss of the original project contact, the project was put on hold until a new restoration biologist could be hired. As of October 2016, a new restoration biologist has been employed and we plan to continue the project and meet the outlined objectives in the summer of 2017.
